How I Evolved as a Writer
If I had to choose one strategy that has impacted me the most it would definitely be that I am now able to tap into a more emotional and descriptive part of writing. A huge part that helped evolve that part of me is learning and reading about The Christmas Carol. The emotion and moral in that story that Tim O’Brien wrote really developed a very creative side of writing to me. I feel like I learned this skill in a slow but a very thorough process. I love that because since it really took some time to develop, I will be using this skill over the years! I’ve always wanted to improve this skill, but I haven’t had the support so I would procrastinate on it. Since Ms. Janna makes us write and challenge our self descriptively a lot, I don’t think I’ll be able to procrastinate on this skill. I have honestly been using more descriptive words with my family. Which is awesome to me because now I’m using this skill regularly. When I do say a “big” word though my dad won’t hesitate to make fun of me. He’ll say something like “Wow Jonah good job.”, clapping sarcastically. Then he starts something that he can’t win but I won’t go in depth with that. I’m glad that I’ve improved greatly with this strategy because this is something I have struggled with in the past. I’m excited to use this skill over and over in the future.
