Introducing Spanish
What does Spanish mean to me?
Learning about Spanish and it's culture and way of life, I can that Spanish and the people involved, the emotion, the lifestyle, and etc. is a whole another world. The traditions, religious beliefs, legends, food, art, music, clothing, and most importantly the family values are all strongly embedded in the people! I have only been to a few Spanish related events and I can that the vibe is very different, very happy, and just uplifting. Learning about the violence that a lot of people of the Spanish culture go through is really heartbreaking to me because of how I know that the people of this culture are some of the most hard-working and uplifting people out there. I really hope to one day speak fluent Spanish to be closer to the culture.
Why is learning/knowing more than one language important?
Learning more than one language opens so may opportunities in your life. It helps you mentally, socially, and can help you emotionally as a person. It opens doors to meeting a lot more people and occupations. It also just expands your learning to understand a new culture of people that may only speak that language.
What topics do I want to learn about in this class?
One thing that I have always been curious about is Spanish holidays! I would love to learn more about them in the future. Especially growing up where I do I have many Spanish peers and I would enjoy learning about what they celebrate and how it may be different or similar to the holidays I celebrate.
What am I excited about in this class?
I have always loved Spanish food! I don't know the history behind any of it though. I know Spanish food is in my top 3 favorite kinds of food, so I really am excited to learn about the history and making of all Spanish food!
