Description of project
For this mini project my class had to choose something to learn and try to perfect within in the duration of two weeks. I chose the art of throwing cards. I chose this because I have some friends who can throw cards extremely fast and accurate, to the point where it seems dangerous. I thought it would be something cool to do as my friends already knew it and it seemed like something that I could perfect within two weeks.
The Impact of the Growth Mindset Project
First off the impact of trying to learn this was not major, but it showed me what I could get accomplished in two weeks. When realizing within these weeks that I had to take time out of class to improve at it, I thought of my math skills and how if I took more time outside of class to improve on math I can increase my math capabilities to greater heights.
Did you continue doing this after the two weeks?
I didn't continue to try and perfect card throwing after these two weeks during the project because I felt like it wasn't anything that I needed to try and continue to get better at.
How was a Growth Mindset applicable to math this year?
Growth mindset was definitely applicable to math this year at several different times. Every time I learned a new subject that I didn't understand right away I had to use a growth mindset to learn and understand it over time. Also with SAT math, if I didn't understand or was having trouble doing all the problems in an amount of time, I had to have the mindset that I can learn and do this. As long as I put in the time and effort, which I did.
